What to do if you think you may be experiencing an eye health emergency
Symptoms that may indicate an eye health emergency include flashes of light, spots in your vision, blackened areas in your vision, or pain.
Call your optometrist and explain the situation so the degree of urgency can be assessed. Many optometrists hold appointments in their schedule to deal with eye care emergencies.
If you think you may be experiencing an eye health emergency outside of regular office hours or if you cannot reach your optometrist, please go to an emergency room near you.
Please note that lost or broken glasses, or getting a new prescription before your health insurance runs out, do not constitute eye health emergencies.
